Worship Leader & Ministry Associate
ROLE SNAPSHOT:
We are hiring a full-time worship and ministry associate to serve alongside the lead pastor as the second full-time staff member.
The ideal candidate is gifted musically, experienced in discipleship and leadership development, and has a heart for God’s people. As a young church-plant, we need someone who has a ‘can-do’ attitude and is excited about ministry.
We are looking for someone who has served as a pastor previously or who has the noble ambition to become a pastor. We will prioritize character above all other qualifications. Theological and ministry philosophy alignment is also a must. Our desire is for this to develop into a pastoral position.
CHURCH SNAPSHOT:
City on a Hill Church Somerville is a young, diverse, growing church plant. We average about 90-100 in worship each week with an average age of about 28 years-old. We rent an unused church building on Sunday mornings. Our church has many young professionals and graduate students and is rapidly growing in young families. Our congregation is ~70% white and ~30% is Asian, Latino, and Black. We are a part of the Sojourn Network and the North American Mission Board. We are reformed, complementarian, and continuationists.
We are a part of a family of neighborhood churches in Boston. We’re launching our fourth City on a Hill Church in Boston in Sept 2020. This position allows the opportunity to work alongside our worship leaders at the other congregations.
NEIGHBORHOOD SNAPSHOT:
Somerville is an up and coming (potentially now “arrived”) city in the urban Boston area. Somerville shares a border with Cambridge, and the two are often referred to together as “Camberville.” The only city that is technically both larger and more dense than Somerville is New York City. Somerville has access to both the Red and Orange trains, and the MBTA is currently building the Green line extension through the heart of Somerville.
